Durkin's Journey

Brian Durkin is having an unusual day. One life sometimes offers up to remind you to pay attention. It begins with an ending. His lover is leaving him. He knew it was coming. But it was still a shock when she walked out the front door. Home to Paris. Leaving him alone in his paradise along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Is he devastated? Relieved? Still in shock?

His mind is reeling and it's only the start of the day.

It's about to get complicated. An old friend pops up from nowhere and new friends try to help him put things in perspective as he straddles two different lifestyles. Does he want to remain a corporate guy with all the perks in the face of increasing risks? Or is there more?  Should he retreat to the beach? Can he find refuge among the palm trees and beaches? A near-death experience early on makes him reflect on his past. And his future...
